Adventures in Co-Piloting: This Co-Pilot Has Been Raising Puppies Since the 90s!
Welcome to the third installment of our “Adventures in Co-Piloting” series, where we share stories submitted from past and present Co-Pilots (puppy raisers)…here is how our long-time Co-Pilot Chris describes her experience!
I’ve raised Pilot pups since 1996, when Joanna Walker was donating Dobermans for the program. John Gray was the director and since that time I’ve continued to raise puppies.
My last dog for Pilot was in 2018. Ruby was unable to complete the course, so she is currently working on being a therapy dog and is my personal pet. My dedication to this program was very rewarding, and a wonderful way to give back to the community and give a visually impaired or blind client an opportunity for increased independence. It can be a life changing experience!
I love the puppies and all the ways they challenge me to become a better raiser…the hardest part is the day you get the call to return your puppy back to Pilot Dogs!
